A Turkish Wedding

The beautifully decorated tables, awaiting the arrival of the wedding guests.

On Thursday, we went to the wedding of our friend, Erkan and his bride Seher. His mother was our landlady when we lived in Zekeriyaköy on the European side of Istanbul. The wedding was held at the Tesisleri Sports Club in Bostancı. The decor was beautiful. All the tables were arranged around the swimming pool and I think we were the only foreigners there, but Erkan had, very kindly, seated us with some English-speaking people.

We had a wonderful evening, and wish them every happiness in their new life together.

From the left, Erkan's sister, wife and mother, Gül.

This Thursday, I am off to England again. This time, to help look after Jessica while Clare goes sailing around the English Channel on a scientific research ship.
